Bromford Below - Part 08

»It's very cold in here.«

Nigel is shivering and crossing his arms in front of his chest.

»The temperature is below…« Kylie begins a sentence but does not get a chance to finish it. So we will never get to know what the temperature is below.

The big dude with the long curly hair looks familiar. But don't they all look familiar, these persons on this strange underground train? Waggon 18 is written on the doors to the tunnels we are crossing. So this current waggon must be Waggon 17. Does this mean something? I wonder if there is a REO Speedwagon somewhere. And I wonder if I should have used the American English spelling wagon instead of the British English spelling waggon to make this lame joke work. And I wonder if big dude's nickname "Hurley" comes from his curly hair somehow. I wonder this for the very first time.

»An old man«, Hugo Reyes, we all call "Hurley", because he is a very nice fellow from Apartment 8 and we all have known him for years now, with exception of Professor Sideburns, we used to call Professor Burnside, maybe, says, »turned ninety-eight. He won the lottery and died the next day. Isn't it ironic… don't you think?«

»I have heard«, the llama says, »he turned eighty-eight.«

»So, you may have misheard that, KussKuss.«

Does it still bother me that everybody - except me - can call the animal by its' real name without getting a big, wet and disgusting llama kiss in reverse?

»What about your lottery win, Hurley?« I want to know. And I want to know how I can jump from one situation and one conversation to the next from waggon to waggon, from day to day, without losing my mind completely. »How is business?«

»You mean the Mr. Cluck's Chicken Shacks franchises, dude?« Hugo asks. »They have just opened a new shack in Saginaw, Michigan. But the Mexican / New Mexican drug mob stole it from me, the whole franchise. They are calling the fast food restaurants 'Los Pollos Hermanos' now. And I think they are using them for money laundering, you know, like to 'clean' the money they earnt with selling all these azure meth-drugs.«

I am missing some connections here, I think, stories that do not belong together, tied at the wrong ends.

»I have heard chicken tastes like human flesh«, the llama says.

»I don't know, why you keep on saying these disgusting things, animal«, I say.

»I was always a big fan of all you can eat.«

Diabolic, that is what the llama's furry face looks like.

"Bromford City"

I'm going home, to the town where I was born.
Where little children laughed as they sang, a happy song, in the little town of Bromford.

Bromford City!
Bromford City!
Bromford City!
Bromford City!

I got a boat, I hope it's still afloat.
With rusty sails and an old wooden oar.
It goes along, in the little town of Bromford.

Bromford City!
Bromford City!
Bromford City!
Bromford City!

My daddy'll be waiting there.
My sister'll be combing down her silver hair.
My momma will be waiting there.
Serving lunch to my brother, but he's nowhere.
My daddy'll be waiting there.
My sister'll be combing down her silver hair.
My momma will be waiting there.
Serving lunch to my brother but he's nowhere.

Bromford City!
Bromford City!
Bromford City!
Bromford City!
Bromford City!

My daddy'll be waiting (my daddy'll be waiting).
My sister'll be combing (my sister'll be hiding).
My momma will be serving (my momma will be serving).
My brother will be hiding (my brother will be hiding).

I knew it... Ceylon is a ghost town in Georgia... or one or two villages in Canada. ๐Ÿ˜‰
