Bromford and Llama …

I wake up early in the morning on this Thursday and I realize there is no fish tank above and around my penthouse on top of the apartment building on 666 Whitaker Lane, in Bromford, the friendly town by the bay and seaside.

No sky-aquarium. No Age of Aquarium to dawn.

There are no blowfish, no blue whales, no dolphins, no blue or other surgeonfish, no jellyfish, no moray eels, no octopuses, no sharks and definatley no clownfish.

But listing animals like this is a totally different part of this blockblog of mine.

How many were there swimming to St. Ives?

I have to look at some photos of me and the llama looking silly or doing silly things to calm me down.

Where is the animal I don't want to call by its' name - KussKuss - cause everytime the llama hears the name it likes to kisskiss? Doesn't it know that my companion dating days are over? That I have already found my perfect animal companion?

That picture of me with the llama ears always makes me smile. But when did the llama dye it's wool that blonde?

Bromford and Deer …

»Oh dear!«

»It's a deer, animal, my dear.«

»Is it a doe? After all this time?«

»Always! Always, animal. Expecto Patro…«

»Stop it, dude! I declare this
apartment and this blockblog a
Harry-Potter-free zone!
Now and once and for all.
No more names. No more spells.«

»Avada Keda… But no, it is not a doe.
It grew antlers as you can see.«

»And it did shy away once we started
talking, dude.«

»This was my third-to-last date to
find my next animal companion,
animal. Be prepared for whatever
may come.«

»Whatever! As long as you
remember,

NO BIKES ALLOWED ON THE STAIRS AND HALLWAYS !!!«

Two-thousand-eighteen Shades Of Bromford - Part 467 & Part 468

Today is Thursday, the 9th of July 2026.

Why are you looking so desperate, owl? the foxes asked Twenty-Five, our little tawny owl.

There are too many, too, too many, the owl mumbled.

Too many what? asked the wolves.

Too many songs, the owl continued mumbling. I wanted to give the readers a city song quiz every eight days or so, also to give them an insight into a certain person's music collection. But there are more and more songs and more and more names of villages, towns and cities. Imagine! Suddenly there are towns called War and villages called Stone. And all those songs about Stones and Wars… How can I ever finish the city song quiz cycle? How, canids, how? Tell me how...

Just ignore the songs about War and Stone, suggested one of the guide dogs.

That would feel like cheating, Twenty-Five sighed.

Like that one time, peeped one of the chicks, when you said that the next single animal to join us could easily become our next leader?

And it was shushed by the other chicks immediately.

I like being an assistance dog, said the assistance dog and kept on assisting.

And the owl whispered, 'We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be,' as Kurt Vonnegut said.

And other members of the Canid family - nine poodles joined the one assistance dog, the twenty-three guide dogs, the fifteen orangutons, the seven gorillas, the thirty thirsty monkeys, the twenty-two dragons, the fourteen hens, the six unicorns, the twenty-eight horses, the twenty zebras, the twelve frogs, the four pandas, the twenty-seven koalas, the twenty bears, the nineteen hares, the eleven hamsters, the three mice, the twenty-three wild boars, the fifteen pigs, the thirty cows, the twenty-two raccoons, the fourteen foxes, the six giraffes, the twenty-nine tigers, the twenty-three lions, the fifteen face-cats, the seven wolves, the thirty dogs, the twenty-two face-monkeys, the fourteen speak-no-evil-monkeys, the six hear-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty-eight see-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty astro-cats, the twelve hipster-cats, the four dragon cats, the twenty-seven hacker cats, the nineteen stunt cats, the eleven ninja-cats, the three pouting cats, the twenty-six crying cats, the eighteen weary cats, the ten kissing cats, the two cats with wry smiles, the twenty-four smiling cats with heart-eyes, the sixteen cats with tears of joy, the eight grinning cats with smiling eyes, the thirty-one grinning cats, the twenty-three spiders, the fifteen scorpions, the seven ladybugs, the twenty-nine bees, the twenty-one ants, the thirty crickets, the twenty-two mosquitoes, the fourteen caterpillars, the six snails, the twenty-six butterflies, the eighteen bats, the ten more chicks, the two chicks, the twenty-five chicks, the seventeen penguins, the nine little red birds, and the one little tawny owl…

Bromford and Parrot …

»I am running out of options, animal, « I say.

The llama is adjusting its earplugs.

»YOU HAVE TO TALK LOUDER, DUDE! « the animal yells at me. »I CAN HARDLY UNDERSTAND YOU. «

I shout back, »I AM RUNNING OUT OF OPTIONS, ANIMAL. CANDIDATES FOR MY NEXT BEST ANIMAL COMPANION AND DATES ARE GETTING FEWER. MAYBE I SHOULD START LOOKING FOR MORE CONVENTIONAL PETS! «

»LIKE A PARROT, FOR EXAMPLE, DUDE? «

»Like a parrot, « I whisper to myself.

»POLLY WANTS A CRACKER !!! «
the parrot squeels.

I look at the llama. The llama looks at me. I simply nod in agreement.

The llama opens the glassdoor to the roof terrace.

»FLY, YOU FOOL! « the animal shouts at the parrot. »SEEK FREEDOM! «

The parrot squeels a last long and loud squeel. Then the bold birds takes off into the air towards Bromford Bay.

The llama takes out the earplugs.

»That was loud, « the animal says. »And I never liked that Nirvana song, anyway. «

Two-thousand-eighteen Shades Of Bromford - Part 447 & Part 448

Today is Thursday, the 14th of May 2026.
Ascension Day

Isn't that a bit Christian? the eighteen bats grinned.

No, the name is Tori, not Christian, the fourteen hens uttered waiting beside the zebra crossing to … well … cross the street. And why did the hens cross the street? Because they wanted to get to the other side.

Fourteen hens, the fifteen scorpions remarked, at last! But aren't fourteen hens a little too little for the thirty-seven chicks?

A little too little?, the seven wolves howled, Those Scorpions should have stayed stayed in Hangover.

And Twenty-Five, our little tawny owl, looked up the skies and heaven above and thought, Frank Lloyd Wright once said, 'I believe in God, only I spell it Nature.'

And fourteen hens joined the six unicorns, the twenty-eight horses, the twenty zebras, the twelve frogs, the four pandas, the twenty-seven koalas, the twenty bears, the nineteen hares, the eleven hamsters, the three mice, the twenty-three wild boars, the fifteen pigs, the thirty cows, the twenty-two raccoons, the fourteen foxes, the six giraffes, the twenty-nine tigers, the twenty-three lions, the fifteen face-cats, the seven wolves, the thirty dogs, the twenty-two face-monkeys, the fourteen speak-no-evil-monkeys, the six hear-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty-eight see-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty astro-cats, the twelve hipster-cats, the four dragon cats, the twenty-seven hacker cats, the nineteen stunt cats, the eleven ninja-cats, the three pouting cats, the twenty-six crying cats, the eighteen weary cats, the ten kissing cats, the two cats with wry smiles, the twenty-four smiling cats with heart-eyes, the sixteen cats with tears of joy, the eight grinning cats with smiling eyes, the thirty-one grinning cats, the twenty-three spiders, the fifteen scorpions, the seven ladybugs, the twenty-nine bees, the twenty-one ants, the thirty crickets, the twenty-two mosquitoes, the fourteen caterpillars, the six snails, the twenty-six butterflies, the eighteen bats, the ten more chicks, the two chicks, the twenty-five chicks, the seventeen penguins, the nine little red birds, and the one little tawny owl…

Bromford and Frog ...

I met that princess the other night. And she she told me if she'd kissed me I would turn into a prince… a frog prince. And so… I kissed her. She was a frog princess.

Did you know that the princess with the golden ball in the orginal German fairy-tale did not kiss the frog? She threw him against a wall, if I am not mistaking.

Not a true love's kiss broke the spell but an act of pure violence? That's so typical German. That's too bad, animal, too sad.

That's life, dude, that's live. And now come out of that pond. And be careful. Don't let the witches catch you on their way to the Blocksberg tonight. 'Cause if they catch you they will throw you into their cauldrons and brew the strangest brews out of your green frog legs.

Why does it feel like I am cheating today, animal?

Pink Moon … / Two-thousand-eighteen Shades Of Bromford - Part 433 & Part 434

Pink Moon

I'm so tired of being alone
These penitent walls are all I've known
The songbird calling
Across the water

Today is Thursday, the 2nd of April 2026.
Pink Moon

The night is dark and full of shadows…

'How can it be dark under a full moon?' Twenty-Five, the tawny owl, wondered. 'Under a Pink Moon? And why is there a city song quiz so soon?'

'We will not stop until every day of the week will be city-song-quiz-day. And we are starting with our self-proclaimed holidays such as full moons or season starts. Did we not celebrate Groundhog Day? When will be start celebrating Saint Patrick's Day? Is there a Green Moon that is not orbiting the planet of Endor?' a mindless voice announced.

'Why must I think about those koalas when I think about the forest moon of Endor?' the tawny owl asked himself.

'It's time to wake up, owl!' the mindless voice announced. 'WAKE UP!'

🌕🌕

"Old Bromford"

When you're walking in old Bromford
Lanterns under the night sky
See the MOON begin to rise
Just like it did back home

Old men smoking in cafes
Junk boats floating in the bay
Think of me when you're away
In old Bromford

With no ties, with no plans
Your last dollar in your hands
Take a picture and send it back
To someone you used to know

Things will always find their way
From the backroads to the bay
There's more to do than there is to say
In old Bromford

With no ties, with no plans
Your last dollar in your hands
Take a picture and send it back
To someone you used to know

"Kashka From Bromford"

Kashka from Bromford
Lives in sin, they say
With another man
But no one knows who

Old friends never call there
Some wonder if life's
Inside at all
If there's life inside at all

But we know the lady who rents the room
She catches them calling a la lune

At night
They're seen
Laughing
Loving
They know
The way
To be
Happy

They never go for walks
Maybe it's because
The MOON's not bright enough
There's light in love, you see

I watch their shadows
Tall and slim
In the window opposite
I long to be with them

'Cause when all the alley-cats come out
I can hear music from Kashka's house

At night
They're seen
Laughing
Loving
They know
The way
To be
Happy

Watching every night
Don't you know they're seen?
Won't you let me laugh?
Let me in your love
Watching every night
Don't you know they're seen?
Won't you let me laugh?
Let me in your love
Watching every night
Don't you know they're seen?
Won't you let me laugh?
Let me in your love
Watching every night
Don't you know they're seen?
Won't you let me laugh?

Two-thousand-eighteen Shades Of Bromford - Part 427 & Part 428

Today is Thursday, the 19th of March 2026.

Owl, owl, owl! all chicks shouted very excitedly. The Easter bunnies are too early this year!

And they did not bring any Easter eggs, the spiders hissed disappointedly.

Stop babbling, said Twenty-Five, our little tawny owl, calmly. All of you, kids. And start thinking about what Rainer Maria Rilke once wrote,

'You are not too old
and it is not too late
to dive into your increasing depths
where life calmly gives out
its own secret.'

And laughing out loud, nineteen hares joined the eleven hamsters, the three mice, the twenty-three wild boars, the fifteen pigs, the thirty cows, the twenty-two raccoons, the fourteen foxes, the six giraffes, the twenty-nine tigers, the twenty-three lions, the fifteen face-cats, the seven wolves, the thirty dogs, the twenty-two face-monkeys, the fourteen speak-no-evil-monkeys, the six hear-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty-eight see-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty astro-cats, the twelve hipster-cats, the four dragon cats, the twenty-seven hacker cats, the nineteen stunt cats, the eleven ninja-cats, the three pouting cats, the twenty-six crying cats, the eighteen weary cats, the ten kissing cats, the two cats with wry smiles, the twenty-four smiling cats with heart-eyes, the sixteen cats with tears of joy, the eight grinning cats with smiling eyes, the thirty-one grinning cats, the twenty-three spiders, the fifteen scorpions, the seven ladybugs, the twenty-nine bees, the twenty-one ants, the thirty crickets, the twenty-two mosquitoes, the fourteen caterpillars, the six snails, the twenty-six butterflies, the eighteen bats, the ten more chicks, the two chicks, the twenty-five chicks, the seventeen penguins, the nine little red birds, and the one little tawny owl…

"Bromford Castle"

Cursed to kill what I love most
I love it so much that I choke it
No matter where my lover goes
I hunt them down and they don't know it

My love can't go free until I'm gone
Until I'm gone
My love still wants me, but I'm too far gone
I'm too far gone

Good intentions paved this hellish road
And bad investments and bad faith actors left me
In this oppressive cold with nowhere else to go
I told myself I'd never tell a soul
Now I told you
Knowing full well I'm marked for death because a debt is owed

Eye for eye and all that
Tall task not making contact
So you find salvation at the bottom of a shot glass
Peer out the window and see a light that you cannot have
They smile at you from outside, hope springs up then it falls back

Love is a luxury meant for others in my company
It's a book I know the ending to
And I'd change it if it were up to me
This ain't a yarn spun about monsters with sharp claws and sharper teeth
It's a cautionary tale about a lost cause with a heart that beats
It's about the impulse to destroy because you never learned to build
It's fate drowning you as a child but you fight the current still
It's a fool who never stops climbing up this ever-growing hill
That leads to nowhere
No one ever knew you, and no one knows you still

My love can't go free until I'm gone
Until I'm gone
My love still wants me, but I'm too far gone
I'm too far gone

My love still loves me, but I'm too far gone
I'm too far gone
My love still loves me, but I'm too far gone
I'm too far gone, I'm too far gone

"I Remember Bromford"

I remember redwood trees, bumper cars and wolverines
The ocean's Trident submarines
Lemons, limes and tangerines
I remember this

I remember traffic jams
Motor boys and girls with tans
Nearly was and almost rans
I remember this

History is made
History is made to seem unfair

I recall that you were there
Golden smile and shining hair
I recall it wasn't fair
Recollect it wasn't fair
Remembering it wasn't fair outside

Low ebb, high tide
The lowest ebb and highest tide
A symbol wave I must confide
I guess we took us for a ride
I guess it's just a gesture

I remember this defense
Progress fails pacific sense
All those sweet conspiracies
I remember all these things

I remember traffic jams
Motor boys and girls with tans
Nearly was and almost rans
I remember this, this

Low ebb, high tide
The lowest ebb and highest tide
I guess we took us for a ride
I guess its just a gesture.

Bromford and Elephant …

»No, no, no, « the llama says. »Absolutley not! They are way too big. They won’t fit through the stairwell and not into the elevator either. «

The elevator is still broken, I think.

To the llama I say, »They are only here for the good old joke. «

»What joke, dude? And don't make me regret I asked. «

»Animal, how do you know an elephant was in your fridge? «

»I don't wanna know, do I? «

»You know an elephant was in your fridge because of the single footprint in the cheese-pie. «

I take the following silence as my applause and bow to my imaginary audience.

Two-thousand-eighteen Shades Of Bromford - Part 413 & Part 414

Today is Thursday, the 22nd of January 2026.

🎶 For he's a jelly food yellow,
For he's a jelly food yellow,
For he's a jelly food yellow,
Which nobody can reply
Which nobody can reply, which nobody can reply… 🎶

Twenty-Five, the little tawny owl, woke up after a day-long flight from his travelling companions singing.

»What are all of you doing again?« he shouted.

One of the chicks finished the song late and in its own special way,

🎶 With custard by his side, with custard by his side… 🎶

»It's your birthday, oh Twenty-Five, our guru,« one of the tigers grinned, »and we are celebrating you with this cute little song.

»Today is my birthday?« the tawny owl wondered. »That's too bad. I wanted to predict the End of the World for today.«

»Like for every Thursday in the past and in the future?« one of the scorpions wanted to know.

»I cannot do it,« the owl mumbled. »Nobody wants the End of the World to be connected or forever been associated with their birthday.«

»You are bad news, Twenty-Five, the grey,« the eight grinning cats smirked. »Láthspell I call him - ill news is an ill guest.«

»Thank goodness, I am not a fortuneteller and no travelling wizzard after all, the tawny owl exclaimed in full relief. »And you should learn and work on the lyrics of that celebration song of yours. All of you!«

And he thought about what Aristotle used to say, We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.

And twenty-two raccoons joined the fourteen foxes, the six giraffes, the twenty-nine tigers, the twenty-three lions, the fifteen face-cats, the seven wolves, the thirty dogs, the twenty-two face-monkeys, the fourteen speak-no-evil-monkeys, the six hear-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty-eight see-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty astro-cats, the twelve hipster-cats, the four dragon cats, the twenty-seven hacker cats, the nineteen stunt cats, the eleven ninja-cats, the three pouting cats, the twenty-six crying cats, the eighteen weary cats, the ten kissing cats, the two cats with wry smiles, the twenty-four smiling cats with heart-eyes, the sixteen cats with tears of joy, the eight grinning cats with smiling eyes, the thirty-one grinning cats, the twenty-three spiders, the fifteen scorpions, the seven ladybugs, the twenty-nine bees, the twenty-one ants, the thirty crickets, the twenty-two mosquitoes, the fourteen caterpillars, the six snails, the twenty-six butterflies, the eighteen bats, the ten more chicks, the two chicks, the twenty-five chicks, the seventeen penguins, the nine little red birds, and the one little tawny owl…

"Hey Bromford"

No one's picking up the phone
Guess it's me and me
And this little masochist
She's ready to confess
All the things that I never thought
That she could feel

Hey Bromford
Nothing's been the same
So are you gay?
Are you blue?
Thought we both could use a friend
To run to
And I thought I wouldn't have to be with you
Something new

Sometimes I breathe you in
And I know that you know
And sometimes you take a swim
Found your writing on my wall
You left my heart soaking wet
Boy your boots can leave a mess

Hey Bromford
Nothing's been the same
So are you gay?
Are you blue?
Thought we both could use a friend
To run to
And I thought you wouldn't have to keep
With me
Hiding

Thought I knew myself so well
All the dolls I had
Took my leather off the shelf
Your apocalypse was fab
For a girl who couldn't choose between
The shower or the bath

And I thought I wouldn't have to be
With you
A magazine

No one's picking up the phone
Guess it's clear he's gone
And this little masochist
Is lifting up her dress
Guess I thought I could never feel
The things I feel

Hey Bromford
Nothing's been the same
So are you gay?
Are you blue?
Thought we both could use a friend
To run to

Hey Bromford
Nothing's been the same
So are you safe?
Now we're through?
Thought we both could use a friend
To run to
Hey Bromford

The Colour of Time - Part 25 / Merry Christmas ...

'Caledonia is the name of a village a few miles upstream the River Why.'

Dora looked around to find out where this strange voice came from because this thought was too weird and unusual to come from her own mind.

'The bard and his llama are in Caledonia. And they are coming closer within every second of time that is passing.'

Dora recognized this voice. Dora knew this voice. Dora loved the thundering tolling of this voice.

And before her new-found mind's eye she saw the friendly smile in the yellow eyes of a snowlion she named Flakemane.

'Is this the secret power of forecast?' she asked the voice. 'Is Magenta the colour of time?'

Leaving towns and cities behind a Bromford and his llama were walking fast and faster.

'La Couleur du Temps,' the llama said.

'I know, I know,' said the bard, 'the colour of time.'

'No,' said the llama, 'you do not understand. I was just wondering if you could find the colour of time in a snowbow.'

'A snowbow?'

'Yes, like a rainbow, but when it is snowing instead of raining.'

The bard paused for a moment, bowing down, putting hands and forearms on his knees and thighs, trying to catch his breath.

'I think the colours of a snowbow,' he exclaimed still breathing heavily, 'are only different shades of white.'

"Bromford Sunset"

I remember long ago
How I wondered where I′d go
While the blizzards, cold wind and snow
Pounded outside my window.

Bromford sunset
Going down in the West
All the colours in the sky
Kiss another day goodbye.

Land of beauty, space and light
Land of promise, land of might
You're my home now and it′s true
Bromford, here's to you.

Bromford sunset
Going down in the West
All the colours in the sky
Kiss another day goodbye.
