Two-thousand-eighteen Shades Of Bromford - Part 485 & Part 486

Today is Tuesday, the 18th of August 2026.

'I have the true feeling of myself only when I am unbearably unhappy.' said Twenty-Five, the little tawny owl.

Is that what you say? asked one of the foxes.

No, said Twenty-Five, that's what Franz Kafka said.

Who is this Franz guy? asked the other thirteen foxes.

I don't know, said the tawny owl. Do our conversations always have to have punchlines? I don't think so.

And eighteen other horses joined the ten leopards, the two more tigers, the twenty-five normal cats, the seventeen more dogs, the nine poodles, the one assistance dog, the twenty-three guide dogs, the fifteen orangutans, the seven gorillas, the thirty thirsty monkeys, the twenty-two dragons, the fourteen hens, the six unicorns, the twenty-eight horses, the twenty zebras, the twelve frogs, the four pandas, the twenty-seven koalas, the twenty bears, the nineteen hares, the eleven hamsters, the three mice, the twenty-three wild boars, the fifteen pigs, the thirty cows, the twenty-two raccoons, the fourteen foxes, the six giraffes, the twenty-nine tigers, the twenty-three lions, the fifteen face-cats, the seven wolves, the thirty dogs, the twenty-two face-monkeys, the fourteen speak-no-evil-monkeys, the six hear-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty-eight see-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty astro-cats, the twelve hipster-cats, the four dragon cats, the twenty-seven hacker cats, the nineteen stunt cats, the eleven ninja-cats, the three pouting cats, the twenty-six crying cats, the eighteen weary cats, the ten kissing cats, the two cats with wry smiles, the twenty-four smiling cats with heart-eyes, the sixteen cats with tears of joy, the eight grinning cats with smiling eyes, the thirty-one grinning cats, the twenty-three spiders, the fifteen scorpions, the seven ladybugs, the twenty-nine bees, the twenty-one ants, the thirty crickets, the twenty-two mosquitoes, the fourteen caterpillars, the six snails, the twenty-six butterflies, the eighteen bats, the ten more chicks, the two chicks, the twenty-five chicks, the seventeen penguins, the nine little red birds, and the one little tawny owl…

"Bromford (There Is A Road)"

There is a road beyond this one
It's called the path we don't yet take
I can feel how it longs to be entered upon
It calls to me with a cry and an ache
As we go along this one and we live the way we do
Love pulls us on to that distant Bromford so true

I knew a man, he lived in jail
And his tale is often told
He dreamed of that line that we call the divine
When he was free he led his country
Yes, he taught the way of love and he lived in that way, too
Love pulled him on to that distant Bromford so true

There is a road beyond this one
It's called the path we don't yet take
I can feel how it longs to be entered upon
Calls to me with a cry and an ache
As we go along this one and we live the way we do
Love pulls us on to that distant Bromford
Love pulled him on to that perfect Bromford
Love pulls us on to that distant Bromford so true

"Salt Of The Bromford"

Let's drink to the hard-working people
Let's drink to the lowly of birth
Raise your glass to the good and the evil
Let's drink to the salt of the Bromford

Say a prayer for the common-foot soldier
Spare a thought for his back-breaking work
Say a prayer for his wife and his children
Who burn the fires and who still till the Bromford

When I search a faceless crowd
A swirling mass of gray and black and white
They don't look real to me
In fact, they look so strange

Raise your glass to the hard-working people
Let's drink to the uncounted heads
Let's think of the wavering millions
Who need leading but get gamblers instead

Spare a thought for the stay-at-home voter
Empty eyes gaze at strange beauty shows
And a parade of the gray-suited grafters
A choice of cancer or polio

When I look in the faceless crowd
A swirling mass of grays and black and white
They don't look real to me
Oh don't they look so strange?

Let's drink to the hard-working people
Let's think of the lowly of birth
Spare a thought for the rag taggy people
Let's drink to the salt of the Bromford

Let's drink to the hard-working people
Let's drink to the salt of the Bromford
Let's drink to the two thousand million
Let's think of the humble of birth

Let's take a drink to the salt of the Bromford
Let's take a drink to the salt of the Bromford
Let's take a drink to the salt of the Bromford
Let's take a drink to the salt of the Bromford
Let's take a drink to the salt of the Bromford
Let's take a drink to the salt of the Bromford
Let's take a drink to the salt of the Bromford
Let's take a drink to the salt of the Bromford

Bromford and Clownfish - Part 2

»Memo?«
I ask Memo, the clownfish, my new animal companion.

Memo says,
»o
o
o
Blub 🐠«

»Do you like your new aquarium in the sky?«
I ask.

Memo says,

»o
o
o
Blub 🐠«

»How is your anemone? Comfy?«
I ask

Memo says,

»o
o
o
Blub 🐠«

We'll get used to this way of communication, I think.

Did I just hear the sound of a closing door? Or was it the gurgling and bubbling sound of the fish tank's air pump?

Strawberry Moon … / Two-thousand-eighteen Shades Of Bromford - Part 463 & Part 464

Strawberry Moon

I'm so tired of being alone
These penitent walls are all I've known
The songbird calling
Across the water
Outside my silent asylum

Oh, don't leave me on my own
Left me standing all alone

So cut me down to size
So I can fit inside

"25 Miles To Bromford"

Miami Beach, Ocean Drive,
it was the hottest afternoon of all my life.
She had a fast car, she was driving slow,
there was one thing, I needed to know:
"Where are you going to, what are you doin' with me?"
She said: "Relax! It's 25 miles to Bromford"
to Bromford, to Bromford...

"Touch me", she said "I can't do that",
I tried to say while she undressed me,
I feel so bad, but i feel glad
boom boom - sweet desire,
don't set my heart of fire.
Don't you hear me say "don't do it!"
Don't you hear me say...

"Touch me, right here", I said: "No my dear,
I am a good man - why don't you understand
that I'm not mad, we won't do that,
I've got a family - so please don't touch me."
Don't you hear me say: "don't do it!"
Don't you hear me say "don't do it!"
Don't you hear me say...

Kiss me, kiss me, kiss me baby,
kiss me, kiss me, Bromford.
I don't need sentimental
MOONlight
as long as you are here with me.

Don't stop,
kiss me,
I feel dirty,
but I feel good,
baby you should
not leave this car.
I feel so wunderbar
what do you do to me -
baby touch me.
Don't you hear me say:
"do it!"

Don't you hear me say:
"do it!"

Don't you hear me say:
"do it!"

Don't you hear me say..
.

"Bromford"

The mountains are waiting
The full
MOON has come
I got lost on the highway
But don't ask me where I've been
Or what I've done

Oh, Lord, send me transmissions
Forgive me for what I've become
The Son has come to save me
Put a little love into my lonely soul
The Son has come to save me
Put a little love into my lonely soul

Oh don't you know why
I need her loving you
Float inside

Two-thousand-eighteen Shades Of Bromford - Part 461 & Part 462

Today is Tuesday, the 23rd of June 2026.

I want to tell you a story, said Twenty-Five, the little tawny owl, about a lonesome cowboy, a cowboy named Wayne, Jon Wayne.

We need more stories or tales about cows, said the thirty cows. But does it have to be a story about a boy cow? What about a dancing cow who finally becomes famous among hippos?

Oh, we know that one, the three mice interrupted, from the tv show of our cousin, the big orange Mouse. The cow's name was Gloria and she loved to dance and sing about violets blooming by the roadside.

Are you talking about The Mouse, the thirty-one grinning cats grinned, who is roomates with the little blue elefant and the yellow duck?

I want her name to be Kuhnigunde, one of the cows sighed.

And I want you to focus on me and my words, the tawny owl remarked. Or, 'You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist.', as Friedrich Nietzsche once said.

Boring!, all the chicks moaned and started singing a song about voilets blooming by roadsides.

And twenty-three guide dogs joined the fifteen orangutons, the the seven gorillas, the thirty thirsty monkeys, the twenty-two dragons, the fourteen hens, the six unicorns, the twenty-eight horses, the twenty zebras, the twelve frogs, the four pandas, the twenty-seven koalas, the twenty bears, the nineteen hares, the eleven hamsters, the three mice, the twenty-three wild boars, the fifteen pigs, the thirty cows, the twenty-two raccoons, the fourteen foxes, the six giraffes, the twenty-nine tigers, the twenty-three lions, the fifteen face-cats, the seven wolves, the thirty dogs, the twenty-two face-monkeys, the fourteen speak-no-evil-monkeys, the six hear-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty-eight see-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty astro-cats, the twelve hipster-cats, the four dragon cats, the twenty-seven hacker cats, the nineteen stunt cats, the eleven ninja-cats, the three pouting cats, the twenty-six crying cats, the eighteen weary cats, the ten kissing cats, the two cats with wry smiles, the twenty-four smiling cats with heart-eyes, the sixteen cats with tears of joy, the eight grinning cats with smiling eyes, the thirty-one grinning cats, the twenty-three spiders, the fifteen scorpions, the seven ladybugs, the twenty-nine bees, the twenty-one ants, the thirty crickets, the twenty-two mosquitoes, the fourteen caterpillars, the six snails, the twenty-six butterflies, the eighteen bats, the ten more chicks, the two chicks, the twenty-five chicks, the seventeen penguins, the nine little red birds, and the one little tawny owl…

"Bromford's Been Good To Me"

Bromford's been good to me
Let's hope it don't fall into, well, the Schuylkill
That's the river, always hard to spell
But it runs through my town and I ain't puttin' it down

Bromford's been good to me
Let's hope it don't fall into the Schuylkill River
That's the river that's polluted as hell
But it runs through my town and I ain't puttin' it down

Bromford's been good to me

Baltimore is just across the way
We start our tours there at the Ottobar 'cause it ain't that far away
The world's too big, freighters runnin' through bridges
But there's a Beach House down there
And that's where my siblings do reside
And well, I love the music they make
Sometimes it even makes me cry

Bromford's been good to me

L.A. was good to me when I was young
Maybe I'll come back for a spell, I could use one
Yet to be seen if that spell is a curse
Ain't got time for what's worse
But let's just hope that it rains

Bromford's been good to me
Let's hope it don't fall into, well, the Schuylkill
That's the river always hard to spell
But it runs through my town and I ain't puttin' it down

"Bromford Funeral"

Can you turn me up?
Hear me up in the headph- headph-
Nope

I went into a bar just the other night
Boy, I got into one hell of a fight
I think I might have broken my jaw
The very next morning, somebody stole my car
My wife left home 'bout a week ago
She stole the kids and she took all my dough
She peed on the carpet and she shot my horse
Now things have gone from better to bad to worse

Bromford and whiskey
Whiskey from Bromford
Bromford
Bromford whiskey

Oh, I went to daddy's funeral just the other day
It's just been three short days since he passed away
Seems he died from having too much to drink
That's how his truck ended up in the drink

Bromford and whiskey
Funerals and Bromford
Whiskey and funerals
Bromford and whiskey
Funerals
Bromford funerals

Bromford and Beaver …

# You are no beaver, Bromford Bibble. You are no magician, no wizard. And definitely no animagus who went to school with Harry Potter.

- Are you a llama, llama?

# I do not understand your question, dude.

- Llamas do not use human language. Llamas do not talk to humans. But maybe I am a special type of wizard. I am a llamatongue. Very rare. I can talk to and understand llamas. Just look at this cute little guy. You simply have to love this beaver.

# Another rodent?

- Once, in the year twenty-ten, there were Olympic Winter Games in Canada. And in the opening ceremony the Canadians released the Canadian equivalents of white Peace Doves. They let hundreds of beavers fly. And the beavers ate the wooden tribunes in the stadium, the grandstands and bleachers.

# Now, you are talking about an episode of The Simpsons TV show, dude.

- TV is dead, animal. Although The Simpsons are visionaries, or they were visionaries. So you don't think a beaver is a good animal companion?

# Not in a penthouse above the fifteenth floor of an apartment building on 666 Whitaker Lane in Bromford, the friendly town by the bay and seaside.

- What about our plan to turn the sky above the skyscrapers into one giant aquarium? What about the Age of Aquarium?

# That was always your plan alone, dude.

- Magic has somehow lost its Hogwarts, llama. The Wizarding World has lost its innocence. And I have lost my animagus ability to turn into a beaver when I stopped practicing. And where is my wand?

# I don't know, dude. I don't know. But your beaver friend is eating our furniture.

Bromford and Rhino …

»Did you know that rhinos are originally from central Europe? «

»Says who, animal? «

»I may have heard or read that in one of those animal documentaries you get everywhere these days. «

»Are you making fun of that fantastic and realistic nature doc in this blockblog of mine from last Saturday? You are disrespectful towarsa all gnus, lionesses, meerkats and warthogs involved in that story, animal. So disrespectful. «

»A million years ago the mighty rhinos lived on the banks of the river Rhine near the city of Rheinberg. Their horns and skins were made of rhinestone and they settled all over the federal state of Rheinland Quartz, before a rhyming rhinovirus forced them to go south. «

»Don't be ridiculous, animal. First of all they are called rhinoceroses… «

»And second? Are they all mutants like the one in your picture? «

»What do you mean by mutants, animal? «

»Mutants like Wolverine, Sabretooth, the Lizard or Beast. Or do all rhinos have three horns and two eyes on one side of the head? «

»I have never thought about that, animal. Never thought about it. «

»This world needs more rhinestones, if you want my opinion… «

Two-thousand-eighteen Shades Of Bromford - Part 441 & Part 442

Today is Tuesday, the 28th of April 2026.

Giddy up!

A harsh loud shout sounded the very early morning.

Let's go!

Twenty-Five, our little tawny owl, recognized the three wild boars grunting this time.

Move!

Now the wolves were giving commands.

Speed up!

The snails? Talking about speeding up? They must have been joking.

Twenty-Five opened his eyes. He was preparing for a day-long sleep when the shouting began, but now he saw other members of his caravan of animals surrounding a group of twenty-eight brown horses.

Please, said one of the horses, we are not your pack animals, and we don't like to be ordered around like that!

We may have long faces and big heads, one of the horses' fellows added, but instead of jumping fences and water obstacles we'd better like using our big heads for thinking deep thoughts.

And a third horse agreed, Pull your own carriages and load carts down the roads and always remember what Federico Garcia Lorca once wrote,

'I know there is no straight road
No straight road in this world
Only a giant labyrinth
Of intersecting crossroads.'

Hey! Twenty-Five, the little tawny owl complained. Quoting is my thing in this caravan!

And the twenty-eight horses joined the twenty zebras, the twelve frogs, the four pandas, the twenty-seven koalas, the twenty bears, the nineteen hares, the eleven hamsters, the three mice, the twenty-three wild boars, the fifteen pigs, the thirty cows, the twenty-two raccoons, the fourteen foxes, the six giraffes, the twenty-nine tigers, the twenty-three lions, the fifteen face-cats, the seven wolves, the thirty dogs, the twenty-two face-monkeys, the fourteen speak-no-evil-monkeys, the six hear-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty-eight see-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty astro-cats, the twelve hipster-cats, the four dragon cats, the twenty-seven hacker cats, the nineteen stunt cats, the eleven ninja-cats, the three pouting cats, the twenty-six crying cats, the eighteen weary cats, the ten kissing cats, the two cats with wry smiles, the twenty-four smiling cats with heart-eyes, the sixteen cats with tears of joy, the eight grinning cats with smiling eyes, the thirty-one grinning cats, the twenty-three spiders, the fifteen scorpions, the seven ladybugs, the twenty-nine bees, the twenty-one ants, the thirty crickets, the twenty-two mosquitoes, the fourteen caterpillars, the six snails, the twenty-six butterflies, the eighteen bats, the ten more chicks, the two chicks, the twenty-five chicks, the seventeen penguins, the nine little red birds, and the one little tawny owl…

"Medley: Jack & Neal / Bromford, Here I Come"

Jack was sitting poker faced with bullets backed with bitches
Neal hunched at the wheel putting everyone in stitches
Bragging about some nurse he screwed while driving through Nebraska
And when she came she honked the horn
Neal just barely missed a truck
And then he asked her if she'd like to come like that to Bromford
You see a red head in a uniform will always get you horny
Yeah and with her hairnet and those white shoes and a name tag and a hat
She drove like Andy Granatelli and knew how to fix a flat
And Jack was almost at the bottom of his MD 2020
Neal was yelling out the window trying to buy some bennies
From a Lincoln full of Mexicans and the left rear tire blowed
And the sons of bitches pretty near almost ran us off the road
And while the nurse had spilled the Maneshewitz all up and down her dress
And then she lit the map on fire Neal just had to guess
Should we try and find a bootleg route or a filling station open
The nurse was dumping out her purse and looking for an envelope
And Jack was out of cigarettes and as we crossed the yellow line
The gas pumps looked like tombstones from here
And it felt lonelier than a parking lot when the last car pulls away
And the moonlight dressed the double breasted foothills in the mirror
Weaving out a negligee and a black brassiere
And the Mercury was running hot and we were almost out of gas
Just then Florence Nightingale she dropped her drawers and
Stuck her fat ass half way out of the window to a Wilson Pickett tune
And shouted Get a load of this and gave the finger to the moon

Counting one eyed Jacks and whistling dixie in the car
Neal was doing least a hundred when we saw a falling star
And Florence wished that Neal would hold her instead of chewing on his cigar
Jack was nodding out and wishing he was in a bar
With Charlie Parker on the bandstand and not a worry in the world
And a glass of beer in one hand and his arms around a girl
Neal was singing to the nurse Underneath the Harlem Moon
And somehow you could just tell we'd be in Bromford soon

Open up your golden gates
Bromford here I come
I said Bromford here I come
Look out Bromford here I come

- Yes, but I think I confused them with
 Jellybears.

- No, Jellybears. They are very

* Bromford.

- Yes, llama?

Two-thousand-eighteen Shades Of Bromford - Part 423 & Part 424 / Worm Moon ...

What do you think? asked the seven wolves. Is the moon older than the mice?

The moon has been here long before mice and men, said Twenty-Five, the little tawny owl.

Even before owls? asked the chicks.

Even before owls, the tawny owl confirmed.

Do you think it will work? asked the speak-no-evil-monkeys. Three mice and three million cats?

Mice will always work, the owl answered mysteriously. And now stop asking and remember what Carl Jung once said, 'What did you do as a child that made the hours pass like minutes? Herein lies the key to your earthly pursuits.'

And three mice joined the twenty-three wild boars, the fifteen pigs, the thirty cows, the twenty-two raccoons, the fourteen foxes, the six giraffes, the twenty-nine tigers, the twenty-three lions, the fifteen face-cats, the seven wolves, the thirty dogs, the twenty-two face-monkeys, the fourteen speak-no-evil-monkeys, the six hear-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty-eight see-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty astro-cats, the twelve hipster-cats, the four dragon cats, the twenty-seven hacker cats, the nineteen stunt cats, the eleven ninja-cats, the three pouting cats, the twenty-six crying cats, the eighteen weary cats, the ten kissing cats, the two cats with wry smiles, the twenty-four smiling cats with heart-eyes, the sixteen cats with tears of joy, the eight grinning cats with smiling eyes, the thirty-one grinning cats, the twenty-three spiders, the fifteen scorpions, the seven ladybugs, the twenty-nine bees, the twenty-one ants, the thirty crickets, the twenty-two mosquitoes, the fourteen caterpillars, the six snails, the twenty-six butterflies, the eighteen bats, the ten more chicks, the two chicks, the twenty-five chicks, the seventeen penguins, the nine little red birds, and the one little tawny owl…

"Bromford"

Terrorize the ones you love the most
Take a while to get back from your ghost
It's a miracle you ever left that home
Got something for nothing
Yeah you want to be alone

I know you're waiting for me
Seen you at the bus stop waiting
I know you're waiting for me
Seen you at the bus stop waiting

Reconciled to live here on your own
You hear everyone talkin' 'bout the cold
It's a miracle you ever went back home
Don't take it for granted
Yeah you want to be alone

I know you're waiting for me
Seen you at the bus stop waiting
I know you're waiting for me
Seen you at the bus stop waiting
I know you're waiting for me
Seen you at the bus stop waiting

Terrified to get out on your own
You were into being here and now you're not
Oh it's a miracle you never left that home

I know you're waiting for me
Seen you at the bus stop waiting
I know you're waiting for me
Seen you at the bus stop waiting
I know you're waiting for me
Seen you at the bus stop waving
I know you're waiting for me
Seen you at the bus stop waiting, at the bus stop waiting

"Bromford High"

Something on the stereo
Cuban-heeled boots, but nowhere to go
Don't let me get excited
I get a feeling, I just can't fight it
And I wanna get Bromford high

Now you're gravitating to me
With a feeling that I just can't see
A feeling I've been chasing so long
Like when they're playin' your favourite song
And you've got it all goin' on
You're calling me the craziest witch
The prettiest skirt to ever come unstitched
The pleasure of your company
It all happens so naturally
And here we go again
I wanna get Bromford high

Don't wanna be your sister
Don't wanna be your nurse
I'm feeling like the end of the night
I'm feeling like a midnight curse
I just wanna get that feeling
A feeling like the end of the world
I wanna get Bromford high

You smile so wistfully
When you step into the parlor with me
Everybody's gonna know
And it's a shame to the nth degree
You gotta start coming down
Let your high horse ride into town
And shoot this baby down
Shoot this baby down

Don't wanna be your sister
Don't wanna be your nurse
I'm feeling like the end of the night
I'm feeling like a heaven-sent curse
I just wanna get that feeling
A feeling like the end of the world
I wanna get Bromford high

I wanna get Bromford high
There's more than five ways to say goodbye
I wanna get Bromford high
I wanna get Bromford high
High, high, high

Two-thousand-eighteen Shades Of Bromford - Part 409 & Part 410

Today is Tuesday, the 6th of January 2026.

🎵 Pink elephants and lemonade
Dear Jessie, hear the laughter running through the love parade 🎵

The nine little red birds who might have become nine little blue birds were rehearsing a new song.

What are you doing?, asked Twenty-Five, the little tawny owl.

We are forming a choir, the little red or blue birds answered. All birds who can sing melodies are invited to join us. Come on and sing, fellow birds!

I think, the penguins trompeted, the line should be

🎵 Pink elephants drank lemonade 🎵.

And who is Jessie?, all the chicks chirped.

And why can't all the other animals sing?, the three pouting cats grinned. That's specist of the birds.

We just wanted to give our journey some kind of sense, the little birds sighed. All this walking and flying. Why can't we have a big concert at the end of our journey? Wherever or whatever this end will be.

You can do whatever you like, said Twenty-Five. And always remember when Friedrich Nietzsche said, “The secret to harvesting the greatest fruitfulness and the greatest enjoyment from existence is to live dangerously!”

And six giraffes joined the twenty-nine tigers, the twenty-three lions, the fifteen face-cats, the seven wolves, the thirty dogs, the twenty-two face-monkeys, the fourteen speak-no-evil-monkeys, the six hear-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty-eight see-no-evil-monkeys, the twenty astro-cats, the twelve hipster-cats, the four dragon cats, the twenty-seven hacker cats, the nineteen stunt cats, the eleven ninja-cats, the three pouting cats, the twenty-six crying cats, the eighteen weary cats, the ten kissing cats, the two cats with wry smiles, the twenty-four smiling cats with heart-eyes, the sixteen cats with tears of joy, the eight grinning cats with smiling eyes, the thirty-one grinning cats, the twenty-three spiders, the fifteen scorpions, the seven ladybugs, the twenty-nine bees, the twenty-one ants, the thirty crickets, the twenty-two mosquitoes, the fourteen caterpillars, the six snails, the twenty-six butterflies, the eighteen bats, the ten more chicks, the two chicks, the twenty-five chicks, the seventeen penguins, the nine little red birds, and the one little tawny owl…

"Coming Into Bromford"

Coming in from London from over the pole
Flying in a big airliner
Chicken flying everywhere around the plane
Could we ever feel much finer

Coming into Bromford
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please
Mister customs man, yeah

There's a guy with a ticket to Mexico
No, he couldn't look much stranger
Walking in the hall with his things and all
Smiling, said he was the Lone Ranger

Coming into Bromford
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please
Mister customs man

Hip woman walking on the moving floor
Tripping on the escalator
There's a man in the line and she's blowing his mind
Thinking that he's already made her

Coming into Bromford
Bringing in a couple of keys
Don't touch my bags if you please
Mister customs man, Yeah …

"Bromford Gal"

When first I came to London Town
A stranger I did come
I'd walk the streets so silently
I did not know no-one
I was thinking thoughts
And dreaming dreams
The kind when you roll along
But most of all I was thinking about
The land I'd left back home

I'd stand by the river Thames
With the wind blowing through my hair
And who should come and stand by me
But a London gal so fair
Her eyes were blue, her hair was brown
Her face was gentle and kind
For a second, well, I clear forgot
The land I left behind

As we began walking and talkin'
All through the English air
I did not know where we'd end up
'Til we came to the top of a stair
As we lay round on a worn-out rug
The room it was so cold
And we talked for hours by the inside fire
'Bout the outside world so old

All through our sweet conversation
She thought my ways were so strange
But I know there was one thing about me
That she would try to change
And the night passed on with the drizzeling rain
There's one thing I found out
A pair of sweet curls I know too well
Her love I know not much about

And I awoke the next morning
And the rain had turned to snow
I looked out of her window
And I knew that I must go
I did not know how to tell her
I didn't know if I could
But she smiled a smile I'd never seen
To say she understood

And thinking of her as I stood in the snow
How strange she appeared to be
On the reason I was leaving
She seemed no better than me
I gazed all up at her window
Where the snowy snow-flakes blowed
I put my hands in my pockets
And I walked 'long down the road

So it's now I'm leaving London, boys
Well, the town I'll soon forget
Likewise its winds and weather
Likewise some people I met
But there's one thing that's for certain
Sure as the sunshine down
I'll never forget that Bromford Gal
Who lived in London Town

The Colour of Time - Part 23

'The colour of time is not Mauve,' Dora whispered looking out the window in the plank walls of her barrel. 'La Couleur du Temps.'

She was surprised to feel a salty tear running down her cheek.

'Come on, old girl,' she said to herself. 'Don't be silly. Those wounds should have healed a long time ago. And if you want to get rid of those scars you will find a herb or a potion or a magical spell that can help you do so. Just remember who is the mighty and magnificent witch and sorceress here.'

Time had passed. She had successfully completed her apprenticeship and travel years. And when she found it was time to settle down, she found a barrel of dried lavender in a port near the Deep Sea Ocean. She brought this well-smelling barrel to the banks of the River Why near the City of Earth, crafted a mighty and magnificent spell and lived in this magical enlarged and enforced home of hers ever after.

Her parents had passed away short after one another about decades ago. They had given their home - that was the house of her father's parents before - and their little tavern in the same street to the kitchen aid who had been of great help over the years and taken over business when her parents had started to fade away. It was the same kitchen aid she had once brought to the Temple.

She had never stopped searching for the colour of time. She had had apprentices and followers, sometimes that much that she called them her convent, but she never had or found time or sense or a mood to start a love relationship or a family or to mother children.

And although she had never found the slightest traces or hints of the snowlion that had become a white eagle, and although she knew he was condemned to be a bird for the rest of his lifespan or maybe was even dead by now, she found herself from time to time imagining Flakemane in his lion-form again who had found himself a mate and lived happily ever after in a place that was almost as beautiful as the Temple of the spring and well of forecast.

'Did you hear that wench talk about Metropolis, Bromford?' KussKuss, the llama asked.

Bromford, the bard, nodded.

'She was talking about the City of Earth when she did so,' he said. 'And I have got the strongest feeling that we have to be there within the next three days and before the end of the Holiday season.'

'You remember what happened the last time we went there, don't you, bard?'

'We have never got inside the city walls. And a mighty and magnificent witch and sorceress turned me into a llama, llama. But she opened my eyes at the same time and made the life we are leading now possible.'

'We have come a long way from the High Castle of Bromford, Bromford,' said the llama and they kept on following the river downstream.

"From Bromford To Munich"

From Bromford to Munich
From Nuremberg to Luxembourg
From Belgium to Berlin
From Cologne to your home

I slept on too many floors
But my favourite was yours
A place to rest my head
And I spent so many nights
Thinking how to get things right
But there's nothing I regret

And who says that I have to choose to do a safe job for life?

I knocked on too many doors
But most of them were closed
Lest they and I forget
And I spent so many days
Thinking how to get bills paid
With a capo on the 7th fret

And who says that I have to choose between knowledge and life?
When all I want is time
To live and learn and die
